Whistleblower Policy Statement
Direct Care Australia (DCA) is guided by our values of Inspiration, Accountability, Curiosity, Positivity and Connected. These values drive us and inform how we all work together to “Build Compassionate communities and Great Lives” Together with our values, we seek feedback and encourage people to speak up when they experience activity or behaviour that is inconsistent with our values and service offerings.
We recognize that the people who have a work, service or any type of relationship with our functional areas or business unit are often the first to realise there may be something wrong.
Our Whistleblower Policy
Direct Care Australia encourages the disclosure of all suspected wrongdoing and is committed to ensuring that Whistleblowers are protected and supported throughout the process.
Person eligible for making disclosure:
This policy is available to all our correct and former employees, clients, volunteers, contractors, consultants, suppliers, auditors or a client’s representatives.
Matter which can be reported
Disclosure is encouraged where there are reasonable grounds to suspect that Direct Care Australia has engaged in conduct that:
- Practices or conduct that is illegal or breaches any law.
- Abuse, neglect, or substandard care of clients
- Misconduct, including fraud, theft, or corruption
- Misuse of funding or resources
- Discrimination, harassment, or bullying
- Actions that are a danger to the public or environment
- Any attempt to conceal or cover up any of the above conduct
How to make a disclosure
You can call on 1300 122 730 and speak with our People and Culture Manager to make a disclosure.
Where disclosures are made in accordance with the policy, the necessary protections set out in the policy, including confidentiality, anonymity and safeguarding against detriment, will apply.
You can also make external disclosure by phoning the Aged Care Quality Commissioner on 1800 951 822.
