You can register online or by calling the My Aged Care contact centre.

A trained assessor will review your health, mobility, daily living abilities, and home environment.

This assessment determines:

• eligibility for aged care services
• the level of support required
• the types of services that may assist

Yes. Many assessments take place in the person’s home so the assessor can understand the living environment and identify any safety risks or support needs.

The timeframe varies depending on demand and location. After registering with My Aged Care, an assessment is usually scheduled within several weeks.

Following the assessment, you will receive confirmation of your eligibility and the level of support approved.

Once funding becomes available, you can choose a provider and begin services.
